We are looking for people who are responsible and have BIG HEARTS. The Civitan Foundation offers various types of full and part-time employment throughout the entire state of Arizona. The Caring Connection/Boomer for Hire program
This program was planned to address two needs. We are aware that many seniors find themselves in need of part-time work opportunities to subsidize their retirement income. Those Seniors too often find their job opportunities to be very limited, especially during these difficult economic times, and what opportunities do exist may not be the most appropriate or desirable positions for those in their age bracket. The other need was one that has challenged the Civitan Foundation for a long time, especially over the past several years. Civitan has experienced exponential growth in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area through our year-round social and recreational programs for persons with disabilities in recent years. The high demand for our services, and the staff-intensive nature of our work, means that we are constantly looking for enough qualified Direct Care Providers to fill demand. Bringing those two needs together, Civitan created the Caring Connections project, now in its first fiscal year of implementation, to engage Seniors in the Phoenix area in meaningful, part-time employment that is also flexible in terms of schedules and builds inter-generational connections within the communities of the Valley. In October 2008, Civitan received a grant from the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust to pilot this project. That grant allowed us to launch the program.
